The Money Heist cast is one of the main reasons the Spanish crime thriller became popular worldwide. Originally titled La Casa de Papel, the series follows a group of robbers who attempt carefully planned heists under the leadership of a mysterious man known as the Professor.
The main Money Heist cast includes Álvaro Morte as the Professor, Úrsula Corberó as Tokyo, Pedro Alonso as Berlin, Itziar Ituño as Raquel Murillo, and Jaime Lorente as Denver. Other popular actors include Miguel Herrán, Alba Flores, Esther Acebo, Darko Perić, and Enrique Arce.
Each actor brings a unique personality to the story. Their performances, relationships, and personal struggles make the series more than just a crime drama. Here is a closer look at the main actors, their characters, and why audiences remember them.
Money Heist Cast: Main Actors and Their Characters
1. Álvaro Morte as the Professor
Álvaro Morte plays Sergio Marquina, better known as the Professor. He is the mastermind behind the robberies and spends years preparing detailed plans. His intelligence, patience, and ability to anticipate problems make him the team’s most important strategist. Although he usually avoids direct confrontation, he takes enormous risks to protect his team.
2. Úrsula Corberó as Tokyo
Úrsula Corberó plays Tokyo, one of the central characters and the show’s narrator. Tokyo is brave, emotional, and sometimes impulsive. Her decisions occasionally create problems for the group, but her courage and determination make her unforgettable. Her complicated relationship with Rio is also an important part of the story.
3. Pedro Alonso as Berlin
Pedro Alonso plays Andrés de Fonollosa, known as Berlin. He is the Professor’s brother and an important leader during the Royal Mint heist. Berlin is intelligent, confident, charming, and often ruthless. His complicated personality and distinctive leadership style make him one of the most discussed characters in the series.
4. Itziar Ituño as Raquel Murillo
Itziar Ituño plays Raquel Murillo, a police inspector responsible for negotiating with the robbers. Her professional duties become complicated when she develops feelings for the Professor. Later, she becomes known as Lisbon and takes a different place in the story. Her character explores the conflict between duty, love, and personal choices.
5. Jaime Lorente as Denver
Jaime Lorente plays Denver, whose real name is Daniel Ramos. He is known for his distinctive laugh, quick reactions, and emotional personality. Denver joins the robbery alongside his father, Moscow. His relationship with Stockholm reveals a softer side and gives his character an important emotional storyline.

Why Is the Money Heist Cast So Popular?
The popularity of the Money Heist cast comes from the way the actors portray complicated characters. Nobody in the group is completely predictable. Some members are driven by money, others by loyalty, and some by personal relationships.
The characters also have memorable visual identities. Their red jumpsuits, Salvador Dalí masks, and city-based code names became recognizable symbols associated with the show.
The chemistry between the actors is another important reason for the series’ success. The Professor’s careful planning contrasts with Tokyo’s impulsive behavior. Berlin’s leadership often creates tension, while Nairobi brings determination and a strong sense of responsibility to the team.
The emotional relationships also make the story interesting. Love, friendship, betrayal, and sacrifice repeatedly affect the group’s plans. As a result, viewers become invested in the characters rather than focusing only on the robberies.
What Makes Each Character Different?
Every major character has a specific strength that contributes to the story.
- The Professor: Strategic thinking and careful preparation.
- Tokyo: Courage, action, and emotional intensity.
- Berlin: Confidence, leadership, and unpredictability.
- Nairobi: Practical skills and determination.
- Denver: Loyalty, humor, and emotional honesty.
- Rio: Technical knowledge and computer skills.
- Helsinki: Strength and commitment to his friends.
- Lisbon: Investigation experience and negotiation skills.
These differences help explain why the group sometimes works well together and sometimes struggles to stay united. Their individual weaknesses can be just as important as their abilities.
